Forniphilia 101 – The Human Furniture Fetish

Morilla

There are hundreds of fetishes, so I wouldn’t blame you if Forniphilia hasn’t made it on your radar yet.

It is, however, more common than you would think. Let’s take a quick look at the who, what, and why of the human furniture fetish.

FORNIPHILIA BASICS

You become a piece of furniture.

That’s it.

Get into a chair-like position and let someone sit on you. Get on all fours and be a table.

But that alone might be a bit much for some people to wrap their heads around.

One comparison that I found easy enough to understand was the idea of a coffee table or shelf. If you’ve ever held your partner’s drink or bag for them (in a BDSM situation, not a vanilla “honey hold this while I go to the bathroom” situation) you are, technically, participating in Forniphilia.

The term was supposedly coined back in the 90s, and has since become commonplace.

WHY BE A TABLE?

The answer to that is as varied and personal as each individual who practices it. There are, however, a few common threads in this figurative tapestry of flesh.

  • OBJECTIFICATION – Being reduced to something “below” human and “ignored”.
  • HELPLESSNESS – Whether bound by restraints or your Top’s command, you give up control.
  • HUMILIATION – Whether privately or in public, being put in compromising or revealing positions.
  • SERVICE – Feeling useful to your partner or Dominant. This can include the furniture aspect or even the sexually available positions that it can sometimes put you in.
  • CONTROL/DOMINANCE – Knowing someone is enduring an uncomfortable situation for you or the simple act of physically dominating someone into unnatural states.

With all of these comes the calm of not having to worry about anything because your dominant is in control, the rush of power or service, sexual excitement, and the hundreds of other thoughts and emotions that draw people to their kinks.

STYLES OF FORNIPHILIA

  • It can involve anything from heavy bondage to no bondage at all. The type of bondage is also open to personal preference or something that fits in line with whatever aesthetic you’re after.
  • It can be only acting as furniture or mixed with other kinks like impact play, watersports, wax play etc.
  • It can be as sexual or as non-sexual as you want.
  • It can be as kind and loving or as detached as you both want.
  • Participants can be naked, partially clothed or fully clothed.
  • It can be practiced in private or as part of performance art.

FUN TIDBIT Nyotaimori (女体盛り, “serve (foods) on the female body”), often referred to as “body sushi”, is the Japanese practice of serving sashimi or sushi from the naked body of a woman. Nantaimori (男体盛り) refers to the same practice using a male model.

FURNITURE IDEAS

There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to what sort of object you or your partner will become.

SHELF – Hold a picture, book, or decorative object. You could even hold an empty frame and you become the art.

TABLE – Get on all fours and let people put things on your back OR get a piece of glass or wood and put that on top as well.

ASHTRAY – Let someone put their cigarette ashes into your hands.

LIGHT – Hold a candle (or have one bound to you) and be a light source for reading. Or have many (fake) candles stuck to you and be a candelabra for dinner. Go one better and get a lampshade for your head.

STOOL – Easy for beginners. Get on all fours and let someone put their tired feet up on your back.

STATUE – Strike a pleasing pose and hold it so people can admire you.

CLOTHESLINE – Either holding one end of the clothesline with your hand or maybe having it attached to your nipples etc. and let the breeze take care of the rest.

TOILET – I’ll just say “water sports”.

SAFETY NOTES

No matter what level of kink you’re doing you ALWAYS need to follow the SSSC and RACK rules of BDSM.

  • Never leave your furniture unattended.
  • Have a verbal and non-verbal safety word that can release the sub immediately.
  • Never put your sub in positions that could aggravate injuries or trauma.
  • If bondage is in play, make sure you know that form of restraint well.
  • Always have medical scissors and/or other forms of emergency escape if you’re including bondage.
  • Deliver the necessary aftercare (physical and mental).

I love to try out being a chair or a sofa cushion. I’ve always loved being sat on by women, and serving them.
