What is Sploshing? Learn About This Wet and Messy Food Fetish

It’s time to take a peek at yet another interesting fetish. Get your cakes and syrups ready, take off your clothes, and prepare to get down and dirty…

It’s SPLOSHING time!

WHAT IS SPLOSHING?

It’s the fetish where someone gets aroused from being covered in or covering someone in non-bodily fluid substances – food, condiments, slime, muds, shaving cream, pies in the face, etc. It’s the enjoyment of playing with the different sensations the food can provide; things like smell, taste, touch.

It’s also known as Wet and Messy or WAM.

It does NOT include bodily fluids of any kind (with each fluid having their own fetish label). It can also be practiced/loved at different ends of the spectrum.

YOU MIGHT HAVE ALREADY TRIED IT

Before you say “EW!”, take a second to think about your past sexcapades or secret desires…

  • Have you ever licked whipped cream or chocolate sauce off someone’s skin?
  • Maybe you’ve played with ice cubes during foreplay?
  • What about the sensation of body oil while someone’s giving you a massage?
  • Have you ever done a shot off someone’s hot body?
  • Have you ever loved the look of mud wrestling?

All of these can be lumped into WAM – albeit tame or vanilla versions.

WHY PEOPLE LOVE IT

People can get hot-n-bothered from sploshing for many reasons.

Psychologically, there hasn’t been any research, but there are theories on breaking the rules of childhood (things like “don’t play with your food”) that lead to a sense of freedom, or the enjoyment of an innocent act (like when we used to play in the mud) when you’re young and it taking on a sexual layer when you hit the joys of puberty.

Then there are the tactile sensations that come with the food – slipperiness, stickiness, oiliness, fizziness etc. Combine these with the feelings that come with temperature play – the hot of wasabi or chilies and the cold of syrups or soft drinks.

It all adds up to a very delicious experience (just look at Nicki Minaj in her chocolate covered goodness).

We also can’t forget about the potential humiliation aspect that some kinksters might love.

NOTE: Even though it can involve sex, some people enjoy the kink without any intercourse.

THERE ARE “DANGERS”

It’s not as dangerous as blood play or rope bondage, but there are things you need to be careful of if you want to play around with the stuff in your kitchen.

1. ALLERGIES OR IRRITATION

Putting something in your mouth isn’t the same as slathering it on your skin. Beware of possible allergic reactions or sensitives – especially with things containing capsaicin (what makes chilies hot).

Always do a spot test of anything you might want to play with.

2. YEAST INFECTIONS

These infections occur (usually in women) when there’s an imbalance of good bacteria and the candida fungus. Candida feeds off sugar, so if you pour sugary stuff around the vagina, you might help trigger a painful, itchy yeast infection (that can be passed on to a male partner as well).

Do what you can to keep anything sugary away from your vagina (honey is a bad one for this), especially if you plan on having sex after.

3. THE EYES

There’s always someone who forgets to close their eyes or wipe things away before opening them. Keep a cloth handy or a water bottle.

4. AVOID ABRASIVE THINGS

Foods with small seeds (like strawberries) or things like cake sprinkles aren’t a good idea because they can scratch the skin.

THERE’S PORN FOR EVERYTHING

The internet wouldn’t be the internet unless there was a porn version of something. And playing with food is no exception. You’ll find plenty of cam girls with stories about “weird” requests or an unexpected niche they found themselves servicing.

There are a few out there that have made big bucks with something as simple as “sitting on cake” or covering themselves in custard.

NOTE: Cake sitting can be classified as a sub-genre all to its self or something linked to a Crushing fetish.

OVERLAPPING FETISHES

Kinks can be pure, or they can be a mixture of several. When it comes to sploshing, you might also see things like…

SALIROPHILIA – Arousal from sullying an object (like tangling hair, destroying clothes, getting dirty like an animal)

SITOPHILIA – Arousal from foods (more about the food and less about the interaction).

BONDAGE – You might see some participants tied up while getting messy. This can be an act of humiliation or simply domination.

HOW TO START SMALL

If you’re interested in WAM, but are still nervous, there are plenty of baby steps you can take.

Sweet things, fruit, or dessert type foods are often the easiest to use the first time – because there’s already a socially acceptable premise in our culture (backed up by media) for playing this way.

Try some good, old chocolate or caramel syrup. Drizzling and licking during foreplay can be hot as hell. Maybe get some different flavored/colored icing and finger paint all over your partner. Throw in some cut fruit and go to town!
